This monthly course is an opportunity for parents and guardians of Religious School students who missed having a formal Jewish education, or would like a refresher, to have a parallel learning experience while their students are in Religious School.

This course, taught by Tanya Anderson and Leslie Coff, will be an introduction to Jewish holidays and life-cycle events, including origins, rituals, and vocabulary. No studying required. Please register in advance. 

Each class will include: 

  • What happened? (Origins and history) 
  • What are we talking about? (Key vocabulary) 
  • What do we do? (Rituals and objects) 
  • How do we participate? (Hosting and being a thoughtful guest) 
  • Can you repeat that? (review game) 

The class meets on the first Sunday of the month, 9:30–10:30 am, and covers these topics:

  • October 1, 2023 – Simchat Torah, Sukkot 
  • November 5, 2023 – B’nai Mitzvah 
  • December 3, 2023 – Hanukkah 
  • February 4, 2024 – Death and Mourning 
  • March 3, 2024 – Purim 
  • April 7, 2023 – Pesach
