Come and share with one another your reactions, feelings, fears, and hopes for Israel and Israel's position in the Middle East.
The Israeli-Gaza conflict continues, and the dynamics shift each day. We will review the situation, evaluate the current climate of politics, religion, and the process of democracy, and comfort one another in the wake of campus demonstrations and threats of violence. This members-only program will continue our communal discussions on the challenges of the current Israel and Palestine situation, leading to a broader discussion about the importance of Israel in the lives of Diaspora Jews and their families.
We encourage our members to attend in person if at all possible; the discussion can also be viewed on Zoom. Light refreshments will be served for those who attend in person.
“Why? Because Israel Matters” has been a forum for TBE members to learn about the crucial and shifting set of politics and community in Israel. Since the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023, we have focused on individual and communal responses to the war and its continuing challenge to the Israeli and worldwide Jewish community. This is a place of open and respectful dialogue. Thank you in advance for your participation.

Healing House provides respite care to persons experiencing homelessness who are recuperating from surgery, illness, or childbirth. TBE and other congregation volunteers cook meals for the residents and staff on a quarterly basis and drop them off at 5:00 pm each day at Healing House, 303 Lathrop St., Madison, WI 53726. Our team has signed up to provide meals the week of May 12–18. Menu items (not specific recipes) will be assigned to you by Ruth Frawley, our dinner coordinator, the week before.
